Brown, Abby
Abby participated in the High Exchange in 2006. she says she would have never been become interested in soccer if it hadn’t been for the exchange.
A memory to share ? :
“When Aurore came over to the States, we played a lot of Go Fish, Poker, Uno and Dame de Picque with my younger siblings.”
Tate, Gus
Gus spent 4 weeks in France with the High School exchange (we’ll get back to you with the year soon) and experienced a true cultural exchange…
He particularly remembers this one night when “One night my French friend and I stayed up translating filthy, violent rap lyrics to each other (he loved Eminem). I remember not quite knowing how to translate: “If you *%#$ with me, I will kill your family” or, “I’m the biggest, baddest, %^@# on the planet”, but that’s probably why it was so fun.”
One thing he would have never done if it hadn’t been for the exchange?
“I never would have tasted Grandma Villière’s homemade fruit confiture. Mmmm. I think the best breakfast of my life (still) would be the breakfast I had every day in Houlgate (Honey Nut Cheerios, two croissants, homemade jelly, nutella, and hot chocolate).”
Gus, I can relate. I personally started working my translation skills on lyrics form the Artist Formely Know as Prince, back when he used that name and a whole range of juicy vocabulary! And when it comes to breakfast, brunch or whenever-u-feel-like-it snack, I must have been one of the biggest nutella customer in Lexington in the 1990’s.
Gus has joined our facebook group “Lexington Deauville Sister Cities Alumni”, you can too. If you are not on facebook already, it only takes a minute to create your profile and start sharing. [www.facebook.com]
